Specialist Leaders of Education are outstanding, experienced teachers in leadership positions below the headteacher. They have the capacity, capability and commitment to work beyond their own school and have the skills needed to support individuals or teams in similar roles in other schools.
The SLE’s within the Preston TSA are employed from a range of settings across the Alliance including Primary, Secondary and Special Education. They are able to develop other leaders so that they have the skills needed to lead their own teams and improve practice in their own schools. They understand what outstanding leadership practice in their area of expertise looks like and are highly skilled in developing in others the ability to drive improvement. This may be done through one-to-one or group support and could involve a variety of activities, such as:
- Data analysis
- Facilitating and training
- Joint action planning
- Driving up standards within subject areas
