Entry Criteria

To be eligible to apply for the School direct route with us you will need the following:

Primary

An Honours degree, or its equivalent.

Three GCSEs at minimum grade C or above to include English language, mathematics and science (including biology, chemistry or physics). All successful applicants must have met this requirement by 31 July 2020.

A satisfactory academic (university) reference AND a satisfactory professional reference if more than three years since academic study.

All candidates must demonstrate professional suitability through interview and must obtain medical and enhanced DBS clearance according to established university procedures.

Secondary

A UK honours degree or recognised equivalent qualification is required.

GCSE grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics or recognised equivalent qualifications. Applicants must have met this requirement by July 2020.

How we select our trainees.

Candidates apply through UCAS and are shortlisted following reference to the entry requirements and if successful are invited for interview. Before applying we do advise you to spend some time in school to observe teaching in action.

How to apply

Applications for School Direct will open on UCAS in early October 2019 for training commencing in September 2020. The Preston Teaching School Alliance, in partnership with The University of Cumbria, will review applications as they are received, therefore you are advised to submit your application as soon as possible.
